CITY HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT
Pardesiya was established between 1937 and 1939 on land purchased in 1928 by Jean-Yona Fisher, a Belgian Jew. In 1937, Avraham Tabib of the Yemenite olim organization encouraged twenty families to settle there, completing construction by 1939. During World War II, the residents faced economic hardships but managed to resolve these issues with the Jewish Agency. After the war, new neighborhoods and a ma'abara (immigrant absorption camp) were built to accommodate new immigrants. Pardesiya attained local council status in 1952.
