Har Brakha was established in 1983 as a Nahal military outpost and transitioned to a civilian community on Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day) of that year. Situated on the southern ridge of Mount Gerizim at an elevation of approximately 870 meters, the community has grown significantly since its founding. A pivotal development was the establishment of Yeshivat Har Brakha in 1991, under the leadership of Rabbi Eliezer Melamed, which has contributed to the community's expansion and vitality. Har Brakha is a religious-Zionist community comprising approximately 350 families.
