Peduel was established in 1984 by a group of Orthodox Jewish Israelis from Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shvut, with assistance from the Amana organization. Situated approximately 25 kilometers east of Tel Aviv, it is organized as a community settlement under the jurisdiction of the Shomron Regional Council. The name 'Peduel' is derived from the Hebrew word 'Pedui,' meaning 'ransomed,' reflecting the biblical verse: 'And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion' (Isaiah 35:10).
