CITY HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT
Shavei Tzion, established on April 13, 1938, is a moshav shitufi located between Acre and Nahariya in northern Israel. Founded by German Jewish refugees from Rexingen during the Fifth Aliyah, the settlement was part of the tower and stockade initiative. Its construction was financed by Arthur Loewengart, a former Rexingen resident and leather manufacturer who had immigrated to the United States in 1937. Today, Shavei Tzion is recognized for its scenic coastal location along the Mediterranean Sea.
DEMOGRAPHICS & FAMILY LIFESTYLE
The community is secular, with approximately 1,100 residents. About 40% of the population are members of the cooperative agricultural association, which operates ventures such as the 'Sh.Ẓ.P' plastics factory, a dairy farm, irrigated crops, avocado orchards, and the 'Hofit' hotel. The remaining residents are not part of these cooperative enterprises and are considered village inhabitants. The moshav offers various community services, including a grocery store, recreation center, club, swimming pool, and sports field.
