Founded by German Jewish refugees from Rexingen during the Fifth Aliyah, the settlement was part of the tower and stockade initiative. Its construction was financed by Arthur Loewengart, a former Rexingen resident and leather manufacturer who had immigrated to the United States in 1937. Today, Shavei Tzion is recognized for its scenic coastal location along the Mediterranean Sea.
