CITY HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT
Nitzan was established in 1990 on the site of the former Nitzanim Youth Village, which operated from 1949 to 1990. The community experienced significant growth in 2005 when it accommodated families evacuated from Gush Katif during Israel's disengagement from Gaza. This expansion included the construction of 500 temporary housing units, known as Nitzan Bet, to house the new residents.
