Kfar Yona was founded on January 23, 1932, by Morris Fischer, in honor of his father, Jean (Yona) Fischer, a Belgian Zionist. Initially named Gan Yona, the settlement was established on lands purchased in the Sharon plain. During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Kfar Yona was strategically significant, facing attacks from the Iraqi Army. The community successfully defended itself, and following the 1949 Armistice Agreements, the border moved eastward, enhancing its security. Over the decades, Kfar Yona evolved from an agricultural village into a city, achieving official city status on February 11, 2014.
