Living in Revivim: Full Guide

CITY HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT

Revivim was established on July 7, 1943, by young Jewish refugees from Austria, Italy, and Germany, all members of HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed, who had trained at Kibbutz Givat Brenner. Initially named Tel HaTzofim, it was one of three observation outposts in the northern Negev. During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Revivim was isolated behind Egyptian lines for several months, with members living in underground shelters and receiving supplies by air and through convoys. Post-war, the kibbutz was reconstructed and has since developed an economy encompassing agriculture and industry.

DEMOGRAPHICS & FAMILY LIFESTYLE

Revivim is a secular kibbutz located in the Negev desert, approximately 34 kilometers south of Be'er Sheva. It has a population of around 1,095 residents, comprising approximately 557 males and 538 females. The community includes about 233 children aged 0-14 years, 666 individuals aged 15-64 years, and 195 residents aged 65 and above. The kibbutz offers a communal lifestyle with a focus on agriculture, industry, and education.

REAL ESTATE MARKET OVERVIEW

Revivim's housing primarily consists of single-family homes and apartments that reflect the kibbutz's historical development and communal lifestyle. The residences are interspersed with green spaces and communal facilities, fostering a close-knit community atmosphere. The architectural style is modest and functional, aligning with the kibbutz's emphasis on simplicity and practicality. Over the years, some homes have been renovated or expanded to accommodate growing families and modern living standards. The real estate market in Revivim is characterized by stable demand, driven by individuals and families seeking a communal lifestyle in the Negev desert. The kibbutz's focus on agriculture, industry, and education attracts residents interested in these sectors. Housing prices are generally more affordable compared to urban centers, making it an appealing option for those looking to settle in a rural setting. The market is relatively liquid, with properties becoming available as members transition in and out of the community. Revivim is a compact community without distinct neighborhoods, reflecting its origins as a traditional kibbutz. The layout is designed to promote communal interaction, with residential areas closely integrated with shared facilities such as the dining hall, educational institutions, and recreational spaces.

NEW CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Revivim has undertaken the rehabilitation of an abandoned quarry near the neighboring Bedouin village of Bir Hadaj. This project focuses on ecological restoration and the revitalization of a 4-kilometer section of the Revivim Stream, aiming to enhance the local environment and foster positive relations with the Bedouin community.

TRANSPORTATION & ACCESSIBILITY

Revivim is accessible via public transportation, with bus line 45 connecting the kibbutz to Be'er Sheva and other nearby communities. This connectivity facilitates convenient travel for residents and visitors to and from the regional hub of Be'er Sheva.

WHY NEW IMMIGRANTS CHOOSE REVIVIM
